Calculating inverse tangent (tan^-1) in Excel
1. Enter the values for your calculation in separate cells.
2. In a third cell, enter the formula
"=ATAN(8.391/14.142)" (without the quotes).
3. Press Enter to get the result in radians.
- To convert radians to degrees, multiply the result by 180/PI or use the DEGREES function.
- For example, if the result of the ATAN function is in cell C1, you can use the formula "=C1*180/PI()" or "=DEGREES(C1)" to convert the result to degrees.
