Is it possible to count unique instances of a text string

In column A (200+ entries) I have a list of Stores and Regions and want a formula to count the number of regions

Region A
Store X
Region B
Store Y
Region A
Store X
Region C

So in the simplified example above the count of unique regions would be 3
