The best method for updaing applications on a Windows PC is to push the
update to every PC. Then have the updates get automatically installed
the next time the PC is restarted. For people who need the addin
installed immediately, then have them reboot the PC. For people who
don't need the update immediately wait until they logoff.

Since you want to make sure all your companies PC get the latest
Microsoft Security Updates installed regularly on there PC, I asume you
company weekly feboots all the PCs on your network. You can have your
addins updated at the same time the security updates get installed.

You shouldn't be re-inventing the wheel. Microsoft has developed a
method of pushing updates to PCs and you shold follow the methodology
that Microsoft has developed.
