Try one o both of the following:

1.With Excel open...
Go to menu ToolsOptions.., tab 'General' and uncheck the option 'Ignore
other applications'

2.- With Excel closed...
Hit Windows 'Start' button, Select 'Run...' and execute the following:
excel /regserver
