Default formatting issue

A cell can only have one format. You can set it to no format, then as you
enter a number requiring a percent, you can press the % icon.

I have a colume within which is entered chemical concentrations in either :

Molarity - thus 1.6M
Concentration - thus 50%

The column is formatted as a % so that the concentartion number come out
correct, however i find that the molarity data is formatted as 1.6M% ???

I dont want the % at the end of the molarity.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Roger
