Default WinFax Pro and Printer Confusion

You posted an exception. Hal posted the rule. I doubt very many users will
be as successful as you, but it's nice to know it's worth trying if users
are game to give it a go on their own with no support.

Not to argue with an MVP, but I have been using Winfax (successfully) with
XP since XP came out - now at Winfax ver 10.3. Symantec is no help
whatsoever & has not been for many years.
The macros I have for Winfax (as installed from the WF prog) work OK, but
do NOT return the default printer to what it was before you used WF, all
of the times. I simply wrote a macro for Word & Excel that does return my
default printer to what it was before.

Versions of WinFax later than version 9.x have proven to be largely
incompatible with Windows XP. WinFax, when installed on an XP machine
usually corrupts XP's Fax service to the point that it cannot be
resurrected
without an OS re-install. Symantec no longer offers any real tech
support
for this product. There are a number of group fax services available
that
are compatible with XP, my suggestion would be to get one. You might
also
want to see if Symantec has a user forum for WinFax; the primary focus
for
this forum is Windows XP Fax.
