If you're only replacing one cell, the combobox from the control toolbox toolbar
won't require VBA.

If you're replacing cells with different lists, you could use a combobox for
each cell and still not require VBA.

Debra's code is very useful when you have (say) a column of cells that used the
same data|validation that you want replaced.

Thanks Norman.
Can you suggest any other solution that does not involve VB code?
Thanks

Hi Peter,

Data validation does not natively provide autocomplete functionality.

However, Debra Dalgleish provides a possible workaround, using a combobox,

I want to select a text item from a long drop down list. Is there a way to
have a form of auto complete to help you search the list or do all methods
(eg: data, validation, list) require you to scroll up and down the list to
find
the entry you want?
Thanks.
