when two people are updating an shared excel file at the same time, the
changes are not being saved. Our MIS Department says sharing excel files
doesn't work, and discontinue this practice and that will solve the problem.

However, when researching I don't find any mention of problems with saving
files, only that certain functions don't work in shared files.

what can the problem be?
