Select the cell you want to appy the Conditional Formatting to and click
FormatConditional Formatting...

for Condition 1 select Formula Is: and enter this:

=ISNA($A$1)

Click Format and pick your color on the Font tab (or fill color from
the Patterns tab) and click OK twice...

Of course adjust the cell reference $A$1 to meet your needs...
