Default Add values to particular years

I need to update a spreadsheet for capital expenditures for years
selected from a drop down list. For example, a vehicle bought in
2006-2007 should be added to the value in the capital expenditure
sheet for that particular year. how can i do this? in essence, i need
to add values to existing fields in the capital expenditure sheet....
