I think I'd try some of the debugging techniques at Chip Pearson's site:

1. start XL with the /RegServer switch
2. Untick all the Add-Ins and try to re-start.
3. Move the XLSTART folder to the Desktop.
4. Empty the Recycle bin.

I would appreciate any suggestions.
