Default Self-Contained "Database" file?

You can do this with Access, creating an mde file, but not with
Excel.

Hey guys,
I was wondering if something out there existed that created
self
containend databases and user-interfaces? What I mean is... I
want to
create an exe, that when transfered to any computer, can be
opened a
display a database (stored in the exe). It's values can be
altered and
saved back into the exe. Maybe it's impossible as the exe would
have to
be recompiled everytime? But I'm wondering if it's doable,
because this
would be a great little tool.

Alternatively, if there is not something out there like this...
could
excel do something similar without having to boot into excel
everytime
you want to make changes? thanks
