Default VLOOKUP Formula using variable for lookup_value

Hi Los,

I named a cell Target and used it in this simple test formula and it worked
fine.

=VLOOKUP(Target,A1:B5,2,0)

If you did not name the lookup value cell Target, the the lookup value in
your formula is the word Target and would have to be in quotes...
=VLOOKUP("Target",A1:B5,2,0). If a named range then as above without the "
"s.

I have a cell format search criteria over a specified column range. When
the
criteria is satified, I need to enter a formula using VLOOKUP in an
adjacent
column that uses the value in the cell that satisfied my format search
criteria as the lookup value.

I used the formaul:
"=VLOOKUP(Target,'C:\Documents and
Settings[SummaryByProject(111005).xls]Current'!$B$1:$D$585,2,FALSE)"
, where I tried to define Target as the cell that satisfied teh search
criteria, but it does not work.

I'd apprecaite any help you can give on this
Thanks
