The following steps seemed to work:

1) Make sure that the source data has no blank or NULL value rows.

2) Delete and *.tmp files on your hard drive.

3) If the sheet crashes all the time, delete the pivot table and
recreate it. Copying the sheet from an older version also seems to
work.
