Default Protecting Hidden Areas

Hi Ian,

All sheets in an add-in are invisible to the user. If you need to keep a
worksheet visible it will have to be part of a normal workbook. You can
prevent casual users from accessing hidden rows and columns by protecting
the worksheet, but this is very simple to get around.

It would be better to store sensitive data in a separate worksheet and
set the Visible property of that worksheet as xlSheetVeryHidden using VBA or
the Properties window for that worksheet in the Visual Basic Editor. You can
add an additional layer of safety by protecting the VBAProject for that
workbook using the Tools/VBAProject Properties menu in the Visual Basic
editor. However, all of these methods (and any method that involves Excel
alone) can be broken by a knowledgeable and/or determined user.
