Tom the specific problem is that I use pivot tables to express the data
contained in excel spreadsheets that typically contain 100 to 200 columns and
20 to 30 thousand rows. The need is to show mutiple fields some of which
contain numbers and others contain only names such as last name, town etc.
One of the problems that I would like to show is what % of the people (last
names) reside in a particular town, and what is the average revenue for the
people in each town etc.

Is this some type of assignment where the solution approach is specified?

Debra, the specifc problem is to use the create a formula using the pivot
table formula section to create a new field that would show the

relationship
between two fields that do not contain numbers. Do you know how to do

that?

Create a pivot table with weeks in the Row area, AT in the Column area,
Number in the Data area.
In the Pivot Wizard Layout, add another copy of Number to the data area.
Double-click the second Number button
Click the Options button
Choose to Show Data As: % of Column
Click OK, click OK, Click Finish
