i think what was happening... i was selecting all the tabs in order to do a
"find" and locate the employee i needed to change..
then i wasn't ungrouping before making the change.
i didn't realize that leaving them grouped would change all the data!

What has happened is that you have selected multiple tabs at one time. This is
a feature of Excel that allows one to change data on multiple sheets in the same
cell without having to rekey it over
