I haven't tried it, but I wonder if using GetObject after you quit would get
that instance.

Dim IE as InternetExplorer.Application

Set IE = New InternetExplorer.Application

IE.Do something to create new instance

IE.Quit

Set IE = Nothing

Set IE = GetObject(,"InternetExplorer.Application")

Something to try, anyway.
