Here's what I got:

=DATEDIF(C35,C34,"m")&"m "&DATEDIF(C35,C34,"md")&"d"

Gives me: 1m 30d, which by my calcs, is correct.

I tried it again with 12/31/2004 - 10/16/2004 and it gave me 2m 16d.
