Keep a backup.

I had similar problems. I opened the file in xl2002 and it appeared to be fine
-- but just for a little bit.

I had trouble a couple of days later and ended up rebuilding one of the
worksheets in that corrupted workbook.

Here's hoping you don't have too much work to do.
