the issue is how to check to see if this is a legal copy, and if not to check a
time to see if 30 days have lapsed. if so i would like to make it shut down and
prompt the user to purchase, if they do no then to uninstall the product.

There are a number of 3rd party tools that you can use to "wrap" your software.
There is Armadillo, now known as Software Passport, ASPack and others. Look
