Hi!

Assume the cell in question is A1.

Select cell A1
Goto FormatConditional Formatting
Select from the drop down list: Formula is
Enter this formula in the box:

=A1=""

Click the Format button
Select the Pattern tab
Select the color of your choice
OK out
