Default state of option button
If the button is from the Forms toolbar, use code like

Debug.Print ActiveSheet.OptionButtons(1).Value

If the button is from the Controls toolbar, use code like

Debug.Print ActiveSheet.OLEObjects("OptionButton1").Object.Val ue
