Can someone help me with the following problem

I am attempting to open an excel workbook which containes a worksheet linked to an access query. The workbook is opened by a command button with a hyperlink to the path of the workbook. The problem is that as the workbook opens up after clicking on the button with the hyperlink the Excel program freezes. Both Excel workbook and Access MDB are in the same folder. Does anyone know how to fix this
