2 possibilities I can think of:
1) Any chance the old one used a built in "AutoFormat"? (FormatAutoFormat)
2) Any chance the old one used a built in or custom "style"? (FormatStyle -
you can create your own style & apply it)

Those formats might be preserved where others would not be.

HTH (& if it does, let me know, I'm curious.)

Now I'm really confused.......I have a pivot table I was using for my 2004
records (clearly NOT set up by me.. :-) ) that keeps cell borders,
even
upon refreshing. Now that I started this new database/ pivot table for
2005
records, I can't get it to look like the 2004 one. I've clicked all over
the
old one to see where it may differ, but no luck. It's driving me nuts!!

Under "Troubleshoot PivotTable reports" in Help, it specifically states:

"Cell borders aren't retained Microsoft Excel does not keep cell
borders
when you change the layout or refresh the report."

....so, I'd try to find a visual format to use in place of cell borders
that
Excel *will* retain...

In my pivot table report, I want to have a certain cell border format,
but
every time I refresh, the format is gone. I've already checked to make
sure
that the 'Preserve formatting' box is checked, and I tried using the
'enable
selection' but still, no formatting. Can someone please help me?
