Press f1 and checkout "Create a list"?

ok. what i would like is to type in another cell, even another sheet, and
have this feature reference cells A1:A3. ex: in cell G2, if i type "b",
nothing will happen, but i would like to format that cell, or cells, to
have
"bill" pop up. is this possible? sorry for the oddball question.
