how do I change the deafault workbook in Excel?
None of the ways suggested in various manuals work. I've tried to create the
following files in different folders (XLSTART, TEMPLATES, etc.): - book.xlt and xls - workbook.xlt and xls but Excel does not recognise them as a default tepmlate for new workbooks help please |

The Blank workbook that opens using File New...(note ellipsis)Blank Workbook is not the BOOK.XLT you stored in the XLSTART folder. I use the other FileNew command(the one without the ellipsis...) or the New File button on the Toolbar. Either of those will give you your default BOOK.XLT directly from your XLSTART folder. If not on your File Menu, go to ToolsCustomizeCommandsFile and drag the "New" command to the File Menu. Check out the descriptions of the two "New" commands while you're there. You will see the difference between the two. Also check out this search thread............watch out for line-wrap. http://groups.google.com/group/micro...6a5de5e0f9dc9f Gord Dibben Excel MVP On Wed, 29 Mar 2006 23:09:02 -0800, Max wrote: None of the ways suggested in various manuals work. Thanks a lot, Gord. It appears that no way one can easily replace the
"standard-standard" template "Gord Dibben" wrote: Max The Blank workbook that opens using File New...(note ellipsis)Blank Workbook is not the BOOK.XLT you stored in the XLSTART folder.
