how do i get an unduplicated count when my cells are names

My staff use Excel to keep a database of people who come to us for service.
Every 90 days the person can use our service again. At the end of the year I
want to know how many people (unduplicated) used our service. How do I do
that?
Thank you.

Enter this formula in cell below your list of names.

=SUBTOTAL(3,range) where range is your range of names including
duplicates.

Use Advanced Filter to return just the unique names filtered in place.

The subtotal will count filtered names.
