How do I view all file types permanantly when opening in Excel?

When opening an existing file, the default is to view all file types.
However, in Excel it defautls to .xls files. How do I change the Excel
default to view all file types without have to change it everytime?

What version are you using, excel 2003 defaults to all type of excel files
and a few more

*.xl*;*.xlt;*.htm;*.html;*.mht;*.xml;*.xla;*.xlm;* .xlw;*.odc;*.uxdc

if you mean *.* it will remember that for that particular session after used
once
