Cannot open .xls attachments from email
Driving me Batty! Help
Have Outlook Express 6. Excel 2002. When receiving emails with .xls attachements (only all other word etc work fine) the attachements will not open direct from email. Outlook error message is: Cannot find c:\doc & set\User\Local Set\Temp int files\Content. IE5\bunch of letters and doc name. (Looks like the contnt.IE5 files is missing maybe, an it be located or replaced? ) You can save attachement and view from saved location, but is a pain in the butt! As a test, installed another email program and sent new message with xls attachement and error message, says antiviris is blocking it. Checked norton and its all good there! Any ideas? |

Sometimes one of these works when you're having trouble with double clicking on
the file in windows explorer: Tools|Options|General|Ignore other applications (uncheck it) --- or --- Close Excel and Windows Start Button|Run excel /unregserver then Windows Start Button|Run excel /regserver The /unregserver & /regserver stuff resets the windows registry to excel's factory defaults. Maybe one of these will work for you. Meredith wrote: Driving me Batty! Help Have Outlook Express 6. Excel 2002. Hi Dave, thanks for the quick response. Ok I tried the excel /unregserver and it did not work. Also in win explorer did tools options general but do not have a check box for ignore other applications? (have win xp pro sp2) Just incase I am a total sad, I clicked start, accessoreis, win explorer. That right? The ToolsOptionsGeneral will be found in Excel, not Windows.
