I have copied the *.xlb file to the users folder on his new PC
( C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel)
However - the changes are not showing in Excel. I can force new spreadsheets
to open after I have opened the *.xlb file - but how do I add the changes for
all new (or existing) spreadsheets?
Thanks,

When you copied the *.xlb file to that folder was there already one there to
overwrite?

What was the version of the *.xlb file that you copied over?

e.g. was it Excel10.xlb or Excel11.xlb or?

How many *.xlb files do you have in that folder currently?

Excel11.xlb - there was not a file that needed to be overwritten - this is on
a freshly loaded PC - Excel had never been opened! No other *.xlb files in
the folder.
I'm running XP with Office 2003

There were no other copies of *.xlb - the version is Excel11.xlb. There were
no other *.xlb files. This is a brand new load of XP with Office 2003

Maybe stored somewhere other than standard location.

Do a file search for *.xlb

See if you have more than one.

If so, take note where they are and sizes.

Open Excel and make a couple of changes to a Toolbar or Menu.

Close Excel and see which *.xlb file gets changed.

The XLB will not work correctly if the pathname is not exactly the
same. <username is different.

The XLB file is in the same directly as the XLSTART directory
for where your Excel is started;.

Take a look at http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/barhopper.htm
to fix entries or to generate a spread sheet page that you could use
John Walkenbach's Menu Maker (tip 53) to regenerate.
http://j-walk.com/ss/excel/tips/tip53.htm

Can also be used with Ron de Bruin's code to create a working menu
for Excel 2007.
