Ron and Pete...
What you had suggested for my earlier question "worked" for a file I created, but I wasn't able to change it in the file I received...I'm guessing its protected?? Secondly..the names came across as (eg) Smith,Jane...is there a way to change that order also for 2100 names?? Thanks again! |

I would divide the first and last name into two columns by using the text to columns feature. That way you can sort by either. Select the name column and then go to Data Text to Columns and follow the prompts. gls858 |

I think you mean you want the columns in the order Jane followed by
Smith. You can split the columns as GLS has advised, specifying comma as delimiter. When you have two columns you can easily insert a third one then cut/paste the first one into the third column and delete the first column to get the order you wish. Hope this helps. Pete |
