Numbering rows in A1 only no matter info in other columns.
I'm trying to creat a chart 7 columns wide. A1 has customer names. The info
in the other columns will runs several rows deep. How to I number just A1 - customer names? |

A1 is a single cell reference. Are you sure all the customer names are in that single cell? What do you want done with these names? Can you show an example of your data. Do not send a file, just an example. Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On Wed, 26 Apr 2006 18:47:02 -0700, Pamela wrote: I'm trying to creat a chart 7 columns wide. A1 has customer names. Hey Gord,
This is what I have. Need to number entries at name only. Do not want every line numbered. Not enough room here to show you. It's a spreadsheet. Maybe I should have set it up differently. Customer names down A1. 7 more columns. Info in two of the columns runs 3-4 lines long. Comments by customer & actions taken. I'm trying to number customers not lines. Does this explain things? So you a have customers names in A1,A5,A9 and B1,B2,B3,B4 contain info relating to customer A1. If this is what you mean then yes you should have set it up differently. All info concerning the customer name in A1 should be in row A. gls858 |
