Default sum a range of numbers entered into a cell

Can Excel sum a range of numbers entered into a single cell e.g. 25+15+1 = 41
without having to press the Autosum function?

Just prefix the entry with an = character. E.g,

=25+15+1

Yes...But you have to let Excel know that you want it to calculate something
by starting with one of these numeric operators:
=
+
-

Example: If you enter the below in Cell A1 then press the [Enter] key:
+25+15+1

A1 will display 41

Does that help?
