I am using the checkbox in a document however the box must be marked with an
"X" rather than a tick - is there an easy way to achieve this?

There was a post that covered this subject in the newsgroup
microsoft.public.excel.programming on the 21st December last yeat that
covered this situation.

Go to groups.google.com and use the search string 'excel +checkbox +cross
+instead +tick' (without the quotes) and you should find it easily enough.
