multiple cell merging?
 

Is it possible to do multiple cell merging in a number of rows. EG. I want to
merge 3 cells across columns B C & D. But do this for 30 rows. Is there
somewhere in Formatt where I can do this for 30 rows without losing all the
border lines for all 30 rows? Or do I just have to formatt each section in
each row?

Think we could merge 1 row first, say B1:D1, and format it to taste.
Then just select B1:D1 and click the format painter icon (brush) to copy the
format. Then "paint" the format by selecting B2:D30
B2:D30 will be similarly formatted as B1:D1 at one go.

The above said and done, a much better way is to avoid merging cells where
possible. If we want to center headers across columns, say center the header
in B1 across B1:D1, we could select B1:D1, click Format Cells Alignment
tab, then select "Center across Selection" from the droplist under "Text
alignment" Horizontal, and click OK. This would also provide the same
desired visual, but w/o having to merge the cells. Using merge cells is
known to cause inconveniences / difficulties downstream.
