I keep losing saved Excel macros, what am I doing wrong?

I have made several extensive macros in Excel to speed up my work but after a
couple of days they are no longer avaiable. How can I save these for more
than a day or two.

and if they are in your personal.xls you might make it a point
to save that file File, Save
from within the Visual Basic Editor
with the personal.xls project selected.

And of course you would want to make sure all of your Excel
files including your personal.xls file are being backed up.
