in excel the option to "compare side by side with" is missing.

i know i should be able tp find this option under "window" but it isn't
there. how do i find this?

There isn't such an option.

It would be more reliable to have a programming solution, but to compare
side by side you click on Restore button on the upper right of the spreadsheet
not of the workbook (not minimize, and not maximize).

Adjust the size so that if tits in 1/2 of the window and open the other worksheet
and adjust it to fit in the other half of the Excel window.

By switching between the two worksheets you can scroll each individually.

Please do not include information in the subject that is not included in the
text body. It can make things difficult even if you think it is obvious.
The subject is good because it did summarize the problem because it
was complete. Frequently people try to be so brief in the subject and
not elaborate as necessary in the body forcing additional exchanges
of questions and answers...

Assuming you have Excel 2003 which is the only version to have this
feature(see What's New in Help).

ToolsCustomizeCommandsWindow. Scroll down until you find the command then
drag up to your Window Menu.

Did you know there is also a Compare Side by Side Toolbar?

If you don't see it, go to ToolsCustomizeToolbars and checkmark it.

You must have two workbooks open or the commands will be greyed-out.
