Can't link cells in worksheets in same workbook

I have a standard template workbook which has a summary sheet and a
number of linked subsheets. For some reason I can't use the cursor to
create a formula to references cells in the summary to the subsheets.
For example if I start a formula in the subsheet and move the cursor to
the summary sheet, it gives the sheet reference but won't permit a cell
slection in the summary sheet. None of the sheets have protection so
that doesn't seem to be the issue...

You may just need to click on the little icon beside the field where the data
will be entered and then click on the actual sheet. That icon makes the
window smaller and gives you access to the sheet's cells. You can also enter
it manually. IE: 'test'!A1:A5
