Thanks Max

Sorry it did not work.there are no sahapes nor any comment
my data is as follow
column1 to 12 contains July04 -Jun05 (sales figures for product1) &
subtotal in column 13...this process continues for 20 such products
When I want to update sales figures for Nov 04 I hide all columns except
for Nov 04 for all products. When I try doing the above I am able to hide a
only some of the columns & rest it stops giving a message "cannnot shift
objects off sheet"
Appreciate your help

Thanks

Think the simple reason is ..
you've exceeded the max number of cols per sheet (max: 256 cols)
as: 20 products x 13 cols per prod = 260

So afraid no choice but to either continue on a new sheet
or maybe consider a revamp of your sheet set-up to "transpose"
(the first is probably the easiest recourse for you to explore)

Btw, you're responding to a 3-month old thread (way too late <g)
which ordinarily would already have been purged from
MS' excel newsgroup servers
(I stumbled across your 3 month late response in Excelforum,
and had to open an acc with MS to reply [Google is an option,
but there's a big delay before posts show up there]..)

Considering the daily volume* of posts in excel newsgroups
(200-300 avg per excel newsgroup ??),
its really not reasonable to expect any
responder to monitor their replies given to posts
for such a long time ..

*And you got to understand that the regulars who respond
are answering a lot of posts everyday in a number of excel ngs
(it's a wonder how for e.g.: Frank K, Dave P et al monitor replies
to their responses at the terrific daily rate they're moving <bg)

So for such situations, where a late follow through can't be helped,
best that you post as a *fresh* post to the newsgroup instead ..
(you could of course copypaste relevant extracts from the earlier post)
