Using excel to work out trifectas

Dear all users

I have a table with results of race data, 1st, 2nd and 3rd from several races, from several meetings.

I have used the MODE formula to determine the most frequent winner per day, eg. out of 10 races in one day, runner No 1 came in 4 times.

I have also used the COUNTIF formula to determine how often a runner comes in. However this only gives individual results.

Is there any way to analyse the data so it will give me the combination of 3 runners which come out most frequently? Also can it be set up to account for all permutations, eg 1, 2, 3 = 2, 1, 3 = 3, 2, 1 = 1, 3, 2.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
