Default i want to list all my cd's alphabetically

i want to list all my cd's/albums alphabetically and by year. As my
collection grows is it possible to add to this list alphabetically and by
year. Or am i barking up the wrong tree, and should i use something else to
list my cd's with.

You can certainly use Excel to do this. Just enter all your CD
information and the sort the data.

its perfect, you can make your list with seperate columns for artist, release
date, record company, etc etc and sort by any number of columns. You could get
it to sort automatically every time you entered a new line, that would require
a macro.

You can also use Data Filter AutoFilter to examine only the ones by a
certain Artist, etc.

G'day tangerine62,
personally I would not.
I would opt for an Image database instead, and
in fact is what I use.
A simple scan of the case slipper, will include <ALL the
info you need, tracks, dates, artists, etc etc. much, much more
than you could possibly type.

If the image is saved as an *.jpg you can use an image database
organiser or just Windows explorer with the file name including the
format (country, blues etc) performer, date etc.
You can add MSWord docs alongside the scans, News Group posts
or whatever, it is endlessly adjustable.

I also use this for my philatelic Stamp e-albums, and have well
in excess of 70,000 images in sortable form.

Just an idea for you to consider.
