errors detected in by excel
Hi Friends,
I am not a very technical person and have gained a lot of acquaintance by going through the answers of this forum. I am facing some trouble with my data in excel. I have put a lot of comments and graphics in the comment boxes in the worksheet. I work on excel at my office.I saved the data in a USB memory stick apart from the desktop at my office computer. When I try to use the memory stick at my home computer(excel 2003), a notepad pops up which says there were many errors in the file and there could be a loss of data in the process of repair . All the comment boxes have disappeared and ther are no graphics visible. There is also a loss of numeric data. Also I tried to put in some code to add picture in the comment boxes previously on my home computer. When I try to open my worksheet at my office, there has always been a macro box coming up which I usually disable. but at home the macro warning box comes twice. What could be the probem. Is there any problem with my home computer.would appreciate greatly any solution provided. thanking everybody in advance |
Not sure if this will help but if you open an excel workbook while it's on
the USB drive and work on it and save, that could explain errors, sometimes it's not even possible to open the file. Always use the CD/flashdrive/floppie just to copy to and transport excel files, then copy it over to the computer and do the work there. thanks very much mr peo sjoblom for the help,by the way I had lots of
hyperlinks on the worksheet .could that be also one of the causes for generating error. The worksheet was about 3 MB.thats why I had to go for the USB stick instead of the floppy and my office computer does not have a cd burner installed. thanks a lot any how for the advice "Peo Sjoblom" wrote: Not sure if this will help but if you open an excel workbook while it's on the USB drive and work on it and save, that could explain errors, sometimes it's not even possible to open the file.
