Are you selecting say A1:A3 then hold CTRL key and select D1:D3?
What occurs when you try? How about hitting SHIFT + F8 then selecting A1:A3 and D1:D3? I can select non-adjacent cells in Excel 2003 using the control key and the mouse. I cannot do this in my 2007 version of excel. This is extremely exasperating. Any ideas?

The CTRL key works just fine in XL2007, as it did in XL2003. Perhaps
you just can't see the selected cells (the color is very light and very difficult to see if there is some background color applied to a cell).
