I have a spread sheet with a few merge cells that I can not unmerge. I've
used the on-line help but was still unable to find the right operation to unmerge. While on-line I did see this note Note If the Merge and Center button is unavailable, the selected cell may be in editing mode. To cancel editing mode, press ENTER. But it still did not allow the cells to be split. The sheet is not lock protected, any advise? |

The tip did not work, the merge / center button did not make itself available. Select the entire sheet, then click FormatCellsAlignment tab Click to uncheck* the "Merge cells" box OK *you may to click more than once to uncheck P/s: Avoid using merge cells. To center col labels across cols w/o merging, use "Centre across selection" option, under Text alignment (Horizontal) droplist in the same Alignment tab -- Max Singapore http://savefile.com/projects/236895 Downloads:27,000 Files:200 Subscribers:70 xdemechanik --- |

Is the workbook shared?
Unshare it to make unmerge available. Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP On Mon, 14 Sep 2009 10:09:02 -0700, HM wrote: I have a spread sheet with a few merge cells that I can not unmerge.
