I'M GETTING A DOT INSTEAD OF A SPACE
 
i using windows2003 but when i'm typing and trying to use the spacebar it
brings up dots instead. i'm not a computer whizz so could some help me step
by step.also the arrow shows something like a large question mark instead of
the line

You are using Word, not Windows, 2003, and the setting "Show paragraph
marks" is turned on. It is a button with a fat P-like figure on yout
toolbar, click it.

You are also posting Word problems to an Excel forum. Word is a program that
comes free with Excel purchases, but there is far better Word knowledge in a
Word forum ;-)

That backwards P symbol is called a pilcrow. (I like trivia.)

In MSWord 2003, you can also toggle this via:
Tools|Options|View tab
Uncheck the options in the Formatting marks section.

(Or uncheck as many as you want????)
