If some type of message box with "Enter" as the default option, you can hit
Enter on keyboard or just mouse-click on the "Enter" on the message box.

Either one will work.

If the message box is not defaulted to "Enter" don't use the Enter key on
keyboard.

Are you speaking of the green checkmark on the Formula Bar?
Clicking this has the same effect as tapping the Enter key.
Microsoft likes to provide both mouse and non-mouse ways to do things.
