Can't sort by date
How can I sort a spreadsheet by a column full of dates? Even though type is
"date" when I sort by that column, the result seems to be random. I can't make sense of the order even assuming it is sorting like text. The sort does happen, because it changes when I switch between ascending and descending. |
1) give us an example
2) could time be causing the 'randomness'? HTH, Gary Brown "Laurel" wrote: How can I sort a spreadsheet by a column full of dates? "Gary Brown" wrote in message ... Aha!!! I got it. I changed the format to double check that the "20" that isn't displayed in the year was actually "20", and low and behold, for the first two dates in the ascending sequence, it was 19. So 1931 and 1933 were sorting on top. Thanks all for looking over my shoulder! 1) give us an example Ascending: 7/16/31 9/30/33 1/17/06 5/15/06 5/26/06 8/15/06 12/29/06 3/22/07 3/15/09 10/1/09 12/15/10 3/15/13 1/15/18 10/1/19 Descending 10/1/19 1/15/18 3/15/13 12/15/10 10/1/09 3/15/09 3/22/07 12/29/06 8/15/06 5/26/06 5/15/06 1/17/06 9/30/33 7/16/31 2) could time be causing the 'randomness'?
