I need to figure out an if statement so Jan, feb Mar will transfer if date
is within time frame

Assuming you have real dates running in A2 down, with amounts in B2 down
You could place this in say, D2:
=SUMPRODUCT(--(TEXT(A$2:A$100,"mmmyy")=TEXT(DATE(2008,ROWS($1:1) ,1),"mmmyy")),B$2:B$100)
which will return the total amount for Jan08. Copy D2 down as far as
required to return correspondingly for Feb08 (in D3), Mar08 (in D4), and so
on. The expression will roll over the year 2008 as well, so it can be copied
right down to cover whatever MthYr period commencing from Jan08 (in D2).
Adapt the ranges to suit the max expected extents of your data.
