pre-set the length of columns

I could use some "excel" help. The final product of the "html" looks pretty
good to me. What I'd like to do is pre-set the length of my "excel" fields
in results/points file, but when I do that the cell length in my "html"
changes, then I have to edit my "html" with MS Word 97. I would like to
pre-set my cell length & have it the same in the "html" doc. How do I do
this in excel? Any thoughts or advice?

Thank you, Dave
